I love a cozy winter wedding in Columbia! Nothing is sweeter than shooting weddings in my home city, especially one with so much to offer. Of course, Charleston will always be first on my list, but I love all the beauty in this city and the amazing vendors and creative friends I get to work with here!
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral was the most stunning and classic choice for Charley and Baylis. The light and architecture of this church are always so beautiful and remind me so much of Europe! It’s such a gem right in the heart of Downtown Cola!
They also chose Forest Lake Country Club for their reception. It was the perfect way to tie in all the details they loved! It also has the most fantastic marble fireplace at the club’s entry, which was the setting of their cake-cutting.
The Little Details
Charley put so much time and energy into incorporating details into their wedding day. Her vision was for everything to be stylish and feminine but also to put just as much importance on the details Baylis loves, too!
His favorite pastime is duck hunting, so there were so many nods to this woven throughout their day. Baylis chose a beautiful green Brackish bowtie, and they even had duck calls as their cake topper. I love how Charley brought in elements that might not otherwise be seen at a wedding in such an elegant way!
Skipping the First Look
As someone who’s planned a wedding, I know how big of a decision it can be (especially here in the South) to figure out whether or not to see each other before the ceremony.
While I always love the ease and special moment a first look allows, you don’t have to miss out on the sentiment altogether by choosing not to have one. Charley and Baylis opted for a first touch instead!
It was one of the most memorable parts of their day. Charley immediately smiled the second she heard Baylis’ voice, and I loved how it instantly set both of them at ease. You could tell how happy it made her to know her favorite person was there with her, even if neither of them snuck a glance.
