We have so many fond memories from Annie and Baxter’s downtown Charleston wedding day! The first wedding of the year always holds so much anticipation for me, kicking off another year of weddings, and I can’t think of a better one than this to reminisce as we head into fall! These two planned the perfect soiree (between studying for boards for their doctorates) for their friends and family.
Annie and Baxter’s Downtown Charleston Wedding
Whenever I’m in Charleston, I try to venture down Church Street to St Phillips or Chalmers. I love the cobblestone streets, pastel colors along the way, and all the charm and storytelling that Charleston offers. The detail photos and “b-roll” from this wedding day will forever be some of my favorites.
St. Phillips Church is a quintessential Charleston. If you’ve ever walked The French Quarter to the corner of Queen and Church, you’ll immediately recognize these columns and wrought-iron gates. Fun fact: Charleston is called the Holy City, and this church steeple can be seen from quite a few spots across the peninsula if you’ve got the right vantage point!
The Church was the perfect location for portraits before the ceremony, which was so heartfelt and sweet. You could tell Annie’s father was excited to walk her down the aisle to someone with Baxter’s caring demeanor.
After the ceremony, we gathered everyone for portraits around the church grounds and made sure to shoot to our hearts’ content. I am still daydreaming about how fun these portraits at one of my favorite backdrops in Charleston (period).
The Alahambra Ceremony
After portraits, we made our way to Alahambra in Mount Pleasant to introduce these two officially as a couple. We had the best time during the cocktail hour. The guests at this wedding were all so stylish, and the colors were truly perfect to kick off our spring season,
We also managed to snag Annie and Baxter for a few minutes upon arrival for some sunset photos near the water!
