I had the best time photographing this classic southern wedding in Sumter, SC, recently. This couple added an extra bit of sweetness to their wedding day to highlight their love for ice cream with a surprise for their guests.
Classic Southern Wedding in Sumter, SC
I started this gorgeous wedding day with all the essentials for detail photos. This is one of my favorite parts of the day. I had the most fun weaving in little details our couples curate to tell the story of their day. It all starts with the invitations, but I love adding special elements and colors for their theme.
Brides, if this is something you’d really love to highlight, be sure to gather all your most precious details for easy access when the photography team arrives. Plus, if you gather all of these ahead of time, you won’t end up rushing or accidentally missing something on the day of.
Mary Francis and Garrett’s Wedding Day at The O’Donnell House
Getting to know these two has been such a treat. Their wedding day was a bit on the rainy side, but we made the best of every location by really playing up the enclosed outdoor spaces. I especially loved the portraits just before their ceremony with their wedding party at the church. Plus, they weren’t bothered by the rain and were just so excited to celebrate this new chapter together.
Fortunately, we had already planned for their first look to take place in the perfect location for rain! Mary Francis had this spot picked out already whenever she envisioned her wedding day at the church. It was the little chapel right next to the main sanctuary. It was also one of the more emotional first looks where the couple read their handwritten letters to each other. With the beautiful covered areas at First Pres with the amazing arches, we were able to get all of their photos done without anyone getting wet by the rain (except maybe us :))
An Ice Cream Treat
This couple also LOVES ice cream, and we loved how they incorporated it into the wedding day with the ice cream as a sweet treat for everyone with the neon sign during the reception!
The reception photos from this wedding are also some of our favorites of all time. We especially loved Mary Francis’ outfit change.
